Guitar making operations moved to Japan in 1975 where they continued making guitars until 1982. The company was purchased by Gulf+Western in 1967. They began marketing a line of amplifiers under the name of "Univox". In the early 1960s the Unicord Corporation, a manufacturer of electronic transformers, purchased the Amplifier Corporation of America of Westbury, New York. The body is a “pancake “style construction and the neck is a multi-ply bolt-on, the pickups sound great, it’s got a “vibe.” This is a great playing and sounding instrument. That it was produced in the Matsumoku factory, which is renowned for quality, absolutely matters. There is something very cool about this guitar. These Univox “traditional” style guitars, (not mentioning names), are really quite nice instruments. Cosmetically showing playing time without abuse. This guitar is in good condition, neck and frets are fine.
